Project Summary MABIS recently completed an independant evaluation on this project on behalf of the UK Community Sport Initiative and BLF. Please see copy of the case study report above. Merthyr Tydfil and Blaenau Gwent has access to some of the most outstanding outdoor and natural resources in Wales. Mentro Allan is a joint partnership project which will enable the local community to access the amazing natural resources available to its residents in order to increase physical activity levels and improve health. The project’s primary target group is people with poor mental health. The secondary target group are people on low income and older people. Mentro Allan comprises of friendly and dedicated staff that will give you all the support and guidance you need to enjoy the variety of physical activities available in the natural outdoors. Project Activities Mentro Allan is based around four ‘themed’ activities which will be situated in various locations across the Merthyr Tydfil and Blaenau Gwent geographical area. Mentro Allan will provide access to a variety of activities suitable for all levels of ability and interest. The four ‘themed’ activities are: - Walking activities - Outdoor activities - Parks and Gardening activities - Exergaming Mentro Allan will provide support with transport in order to ensure that everyone can access the activities safely and easily. Mentro Allan will also give the opportunity to develop your personal social and lifestyle skills and qualifications by receiving training in the variety of activities.
