Caerphilly and Torfaen

Home Information Local Projects

Project Summary:

The project will provide practical and achievable solutions to address health inequalities for disadvantaged individuals and groups living in the County Boroughs of Caerphilly and Torfaen.

The project will help ‘unlock’ the latent potential of the local natural environment to support increased access to physical activity opportunities for residents with sedentary lifestyles.

This will include delivering a variety of fun and innovative low-moderate intensity physical activity opportunities based around walking, cycling, gardening and general environmental community action in order to address the health and well being of targeted local residents.

Project Activities:

  • Buddy Walks – accompanied local walks.
  • GP Referral Walks – prescribed low intensity physical activity walks.
  • Community Picnics – highlighting and appreciating the local environment.
  • On Your Bike – localised low-level cycling opportunities.
  • Adopt an Elder – cross-generational activities.
  • Gardening with Neighbours – organised opportunities to share hints & tips.
  • Family Tree Planting – creating shared experiences for local families.
